On 16th July 2021, Nam Theun 2 power company limited handed over a donation to the Lao Government in support to the National COVID-19 relief efforts at the Ministry of Health in Vientiane. The in-kind donation, valued at 120,000 USD, was handed by Mr. Olivier Didry, chief executive officer and top management representatives and accepted on behalf of the Lao Government by Mr. Sanong Thongsana, deputy minister of health. It consisted of rapid diagnostic tests (RDT), molecular extractors which are used in sampling, medical beds and other basic equipments. Part of the donation (24,000 USD) will be directed towards provincial relief efforts in the central province of Khammouane.

Our Company
The Nam Theun 2 Power Company Limited (NTPC) is the company formed by the state-owned Lao Holding State Enterprise (LHSE) and private shareholders EDF Nam Theun Holding (EDF-NTH) and Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCO) to build, operate and transfer the Nam Theun 2 Hydroelectric Project for the first 25 years of its operation.

Communities
When project construction began, one of the first tasks was to ensure that activities did not cause unaddressed problems for local people. Building the new roads, Power Station, Switchyard and transmission lines, plus Regulating Pond and Downstream Channel, caused disturbances for villagers, including loss of land. To compensate families, and offer livelihoods assistance to those most affected, Nam Theun 2 established a ‘Project Lands’ team in Gnommalat.
