Vientiane, Lao PDR, 23 September 2026 – Nam Theun 2 Power Company Limited (NTPC) responded to a cybersecurity event that has affected some of its documentation and administrative processes.
Importantly, NTPC’s power generation activities and critical operational control systems of its hydropower infrastructures remain unaffected. The company continues to operate safety and reliably, in accordance with regulations.
NTPC immediately activated its cybersecurity response and recovery plan, and worked closely with relevant experts and stakeholders. All systems have already been successfully restored.
As part of its response, NTPC has notified the competent Lao authorities —specifically the Lao Cybersecurity Department, Ministry of Technology and Communications— for criminal investigation into the incident.
NTPC will continue to act responsibly and transparently. Further information will be communicated through the company’s official channels once verified and provided that disclosure does not compromise ongoing technical and criminal investigations.
NTPC remains fully mobilized and its core operations remain secure.
