The official handover and opening ceremony of the pilot project of the siphon irrigation system at Gnommalath Tai, Gnommalath District, Khammouan Province, was held on April 9, 2025, at the Gnommalath Tai Village Authority Office. The event was attended by Mr. Bounthan Suvannalath, Mayor of Gnommalath District; Mr. Chanthao Vivongsy, Head of the Gnommalath DAFO; Mr. Mark-Antoine Rupp, CEO of NTPC; along with representatives from relevant departments.
The pilot project of the siphon irrigation system in Gnommalath Tai, Gnommalath District, was constructed at a total cost of $23,626.32, fully funded by NTPC as part of its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goal of “Water for Development.”
Construction began in July 2024 and provides irrigation for 8 hectares of paddy fields, benefiting 8 households in the GML Tai area by supporting the production of paddy rice during the dry season.
