Khamkeuth District, Bolikhamxay Province — In response to the devastating impacts of Typhoon Vipha and Typhoon Bualoi, Nam Theun 2 Power Company Limited (NTPC) reaffirms its strong commitment to supporting affected communities and contributing to their recovery.
The two consecutive storms caused significant damage to homes, agricultural land, and livelihoods across Khamkeuth District, affecting a total of 252 households in Nongxong Village, Phonlom Village, and Phonthong Village. These events have posed serious challenges to the well-being and daily lives of local communities.
Speaking on behalf of NTPC, the CEO expressed heartfelt solidarity with the affected families:
“We cannot celebrate our success if our communities are still facing hardship. At NTPC, we believe that our growth must go hand in hand with the well-being of the communities around us.”
As a responsible socio-economic partner in the region, NTPC recognizes the urgency of supporting recovery efforts. In close coordination with district authorities and local stakeholders, the company has provided an exceptional assistance package valued at LAK 1,533,168,000, carefully designed to address the immediate and medium-term needs of affected households.
Details of the Support Package
The assistance provided by NTPC includes:
- 75,600 kilograms of Grade A milled rice (1,512 bags)
- 30,240 kilograms of paddy rice seeds (Thadokkham 11) (756 bags)
- 30.24 kilograms of vegetable seeds (3,024 seed bags)
These essential supplies aim to ensure food security while enabling households to restore their agricultural activities and rebuild sustainable livelihoods.
Support Distribution to Households
Each affected household will receive:
- 300 kilograms of milled rice
- 120 kilograms of paddy rice seeds
- 120 grams of vegetable seeds
The distribution will cover:
- 166 households in Phonthong Village
- 35 households in Phonlom Village
- 51 households in Nongxong Village
All assistance will be delivered in kind to ensure direct and timely support to beneficiaries.
