30 April 2025 – Nam Theun 2 Power Company (NTPC) commemorated a major milestone—15 years of successful operation—with a prestigious gala dinner at the Landmark Mekong Riverside Hotel in Vientiane. The celebration brought together high-level government officials, esteemed partners, and key stakeholders to honor the transformative role of Nam Theun 2 in Laos’ energy and development landscape.

Since its commissioning in 2010, Nam Theun 2 has stood as a symbol of international cooperation, technical excellence, and sustainable progress. Over the past 15 years, the project has consistently delivered clean, reliable energy to the region while contributing to poverty reduction, environmental protection, and inclusive growth in Laos.
“This 15-year anniversary is more than a celebration—it is a tribute to the bold vision, enduring partnerships, and unwavering commitment that brought Nam Theun 2 to life,” said Marc-Antoine Rupp, Chief Executive Officer of NTPC. “We are proud to have played a key role in shaping a greener and more resilient Laos. This milestone reaffirms our dedication to long-term sustainability and responsible energy development.”

Nam Theun 2 remains one of the largest and most significant hydropower projects in Laos. The 1,080 MW facility, located in Khammouane Province, is operated under a 25-year concession (2010–2035) by NTPC, a joint venture comprising Électricité de France (40%), Electricity Generating Public Company Limited of Thailand (35%), and the Government of Laos, represented by Lao Holding State Enterprise (25%).

As Laos continues its journey toward a sustainable energy future, Nam Theun 2 stands as a beacon of what can be achieved through strategic collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to progress.
