On the afternoon of 12 June 2026, Nam Theun 2 officially handed over a development fund of LAK 80,814,000 to Nakai District, Khammouane Province, during a ceremony held at the district administration office. The event was attended by Ms. Buaka Keomany, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the District Party Committee, member of the Provincial People’s Council, district officials, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
During the ceremony, Mr. Khamphong PhanOngkeo, The Nam Theun 2’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Team Leader as representative of Nam Thuen 2’s Volunteers and NTPC, presented a summary of the funds raised through the “Walking Together for Development” campaign. The initiative was supported by a charity walk organized by the Nam Theun 2 Volunteer Group on 28 March 2026 in Gnommalath District, with participation from leaders of Nakai and Yommalath districts, volunteers, and community representatives.
The charity event raised LAK 40,407,000 through public contributions. To further support the initiative and maximize its impact, Nam Theun 2 matched the amount with an additional contribution of LAK 40,407,000, bringing the total donation to LAK 80,814,000.
The donated funds will be used by Nakai District to improve infrastructure in Maka Village, Nakai district, a remote rural community located along the Lao–Vietnamese border. Planned activities include the rehabilitation of irrigation systems and the provision of solar energy equipment to help improve the livelihoods and well-being of local residents.
In her closing remarks, Ms. Buaka Keomany emphasized the importance of ensuring that the funds are managed transparently and utilized effectively to deliver maximum benefits to the community and contribute to sustainable local development.
