On 14 June, the Nam Theun 2 Power Plant successfully completed its planned Full Plant Shutdown, which commenced at 4:00 AM and included a 12-hour planned outage followed by a 2-hour maintenance outage.
The shutdown began with an Auxiliary Power Supply Critical Drill/Exercise, followed by testing of the Powerhouse Flooding Protection System to verify the effectiveness and readiness of key safety systems.

During the shutdown period, maintenance, inspection, and testing activities were carried out across several critical facilities, including the Water Intake, Powerhouse, 500 kV Substation, Tailrace Channel, Regulating Dam, Downstream Channel, and the 500 kV Transmission Line.

Thanks to the careful planning, coordination, and commitment of all teams involved, the shutdown was completed safely and according to schedule.
At 18:00, plant operations resumed successfully, with two Pelton units generating electricity for EDL, two Francis units generating for EGAT, and two additional Francis units available to support EGAT operations as required.
This successful shutdown demonstrates Nam Theun 2’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence, asset reliability, and the safe delivery of electricity to its stakeholders.
