Job Purpose:
The I&C SCADA Engineer Trainee is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, improvement work, hardware and software modifications, and provide short and long-term solutions or improvements on all systems under the responsibility of the I&C SCADA section. These systems include SCADA, protection, telecommunication, excitation, vibration, metering, water level measurement of ND-WI-RD, fault recording, CCTV of the industrial site, horn & warning system, OT cybersecurity, and more. The goal is to ensure the availability and reliability of power plant operation and generation under the supervision of the I&C SCADA Head of Section.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow and apply the NTPC and Technical Branch (TB) Safety Policy and Procedure.
- Be responsible of performing all preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance activities on equipment and systems within section duties and report in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and SAP.
- Study, design and prepare proposal for short term or long-term improvement solution as well as a cost prediction for equipment and reliability of the system.
- Prepare terms of reference (TOR) and bids for outsourced SCADA maintenance services, monitor contract implementation, and coordinate and oversee contractors performing preventive and corrective maintenance on system.
- Prepare testing procedures or take part in testing and commissioning in the industrial field on equipment and systems.
- Coordinate with the warehouse team to get the materials and spare components needed for the section.
- Contribute to the section’s annual budget preparation via improvement work or the purchasing of devices and equipment.
- Provide preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, outage reports, and other work reports as assigned by supervisors.
- Ability to perform a 24-hour relocate on call roster for a week or seven days after the successful completion of the trainee period.
Competency Requirements:
- A master’s, bachelor’s, or higher diploma in electronic, control system, telecommunication, automation, or instrumentation is required.
- Good knowledge and experience in industrial instrumentation, SCADA network and control systems (sensors, actuators, programmable controllers), PID control, telecommunications, protection systems, OT Cybersecurity and related domains.
- Good knowledge of power plant operations and control systems.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the hydropower industry in I&C, SCADA, telecommunications systems, or a similar field.
- Ability to study, design, and propose improvement solutions for equipment and systems.
- Individual with a strong team spirit, a focus on results, and a creative mindset are preferred.
