The annual Adaptive Management Committee (AMC) meeting was held on March 12, 2025, at the Visitor Center, hosted by the Nam Theun 2. This important gathering brought together representatives from the Independent Power Producers (IPP) along the Nam Theun and Nam Kading Rivers, including the Nam Theun 2, Theun-Hinboun Power Company, and Nam Theun 1 Power Company, as well as officials from the Khammouane Provincial Natural Resources and Environment and relevant district offices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As stipulated in the Nam Theun 2 concession agreement, the AMC meeting is a mandatory annual event. This requirement underscores the importance of regular communication and coordination among the involved parties to address any emerging issues and ensure the sustainable management of resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The primary objective of the meeting, chaired by Deputy COO and Plant Director Dr. Dousith Phommachanh, was to update and share information regarding power generation, water management, hydro safety, and environmental monitoring results for the year 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the key outcomes of the meeting was an agreement among the three power companies to enhance communication during the wet season. This will be achieved by exchanging hydro-meteorological forecast data and preparing Emergency Action Plans. Such measures are crucial for mitigating potential risks associated with heavy rainfall and ensuring the safety of communities living along the rivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, Nam Theun 2 committed to working more closely with local districts to enhance public understanding of water management, particularly during the wet season. This initiative aims to educate the public about the importance of water management practices and how they can contribute to the overall safety and sustainability of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
