Nam Theun 2 prioritizes reliable electricity generation and safety through comprehensive maintenance plans. A key element is the Major Overhaul, performed after each turbine reaches around 12 years of service. The project involves meticulous inspection, repair and refurbishment to ensure peak performance and extend the lifespan of the equipment. Recently, Nam Theun 2 completed the fifth and final Major Overhaul on Pelton Unit 11. A collaboration effort between the Technical Branch and Nam Theun 2 contractor, EGAT commenced on January 19, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The critical step of lifting the 70-ton for repair occurred on January 27, and the entire overhaul is on track for completion by February 18, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
