On 15th<\/sup> May 2020, Nam Theun 2 paid its parting respects to General Sisavath Keobounphanh, former vice-president and prime minister of the Lao PDR. The service was held as a state funeral at the Ministry of Defense in Vientiane. Nam Theun 2 was represented by Mr. Olivier Didry, chief executive officer. General Sisavath Keobounphanh was born on 1 May 1928 in Viengxay District, Huaphanh. He served as a member of the Lao People\u2019s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee, Secretary of the LPRP, and as a Politburo member. In 1991, he was appointed Minister of Agriculture and Forestry. He became vice-president of the Lao PDR from 1996 to 1998 and then prime minister from 1998 to 2001. He was appointed as the Head of the Lao Front for National Construction in 2001, before retiring from public office in 2011.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
